Twinings Fruits Selection Review

When I was browsing the tea aisle in Morrisons and saw this box, I asked myself, "Why have they got condoms in the tea section?"

I've tried fruit-flavoured teas before, but I didn't like them, as I don't think the flavours work well together. However, I wanted to give them another chance, and with Twinings being a decent tea brand, I thought there was a good chance I would enjoy this collection.

Mango & Strawberry

I like mango-flavoured drinks, so I was looking forward to trying this one. I could smell both the strawberry and mango when I poured the water over the tea bag. However, when I took a sip, I couldn't taste the mango—only the strawberry, which tasted weak.

Score: 1.5 / 5

Cranberry & Raspberry

With a tea based on two very sweet fruits, I was expecting the taste of both to be strong. However, I could barely taste either. The sourness of the tea came through more than its sweetness.

I enjoyed this flavour less than the mango and strawberry tea.

Score: 1.3 / 5

Blackcurrant & Blueberry

Similar to the cranberry and raspberry flavour, I could barely taste either fruit, but the latter was slightly more prominent than the former. The only positive thing I can say about this one is that it was a little less sour than the previous flavour.

St. Clements

Before I bought this tea collection, I thought St. Clements was a type of orange; I didn't know it was a citrus drink that included lemons. Once I learned this, I thought the lemon would improve the taste of the orange I was expecting.

I could taste both the orange and lemon, but, like the other fruit teas, the flavours were lacking. This was my least favourite tea in the collection.

Score: 1.0 / 5

Overall Thoughts

After trying all the flavours in the collection, it cemented my opinion that I don't like fruit-flavoured teas. Maybe I was expecting flavours closer to fruit juices, which is why I was disappointed with them. If the box had contained fruit-flavoured condoms, I think I would enjoy them more than the teas.

I've ordered a variety of fruit-flavoured loose-leaf teas from a company called Camden Tea Shop in London, so I'm hoping they will taste much better than these tea bags.

Overall Score: 1.3 / 5
